ABOUT ME

MY BACKGROUND

Art has always been a huge part of my identity. I have very artistic parents who have inspired me to use my creativity for good. In middle school, it wasn’t infrequent for me to start writing a novel, creating 3D models of houses, or creating a dance number for the talent show. I’ve never been able to keep my creativity down, which I view as a gift.

In 2015, when I started my blog Wake Up to Waffles, my love for digital design was born. It started as a creative outlet for me in High School and quickly turned into something that showed me that I was a talented and capable designer. I taught myself how to code my own website, how to create a brand, and how to style and take beautiful photos of my culinary inventions. Getting to work with brands that I loved was thrilling and going into college it was a great way to make friends.

I attended Hamline University from 2017-2021 and received my BA in Digital Media Arts with a focus in Graphic Design. Thus my design career was born.

BECOMING A DESIGNER

When I started college, I initially intended to study business, but quickly realized that wasn’t my calling. The cost of a college education felt stressful and I wondered if it was worth staying. That year my grandpa Norman passed away, leaving me money for school, which had me re-evaluating what I actually loved. My mom urged me to take all the classes that intrigued me the most, which ended up being all digital media courses. I quickly realized my true calling was digital media arts and the next 4 years, which the exception of Covid, were full of incredible experiences that allowed me to explore my creativity.

My work has ranged from freelance to in-house and I have worked with many small businesses to grow their brand and expand their audience through quality designs. I’ve gotten to work with many amazing people, ranging from independent artists to business owners. I feel grateful every time I get to bring someone’s vision to life.
